About the Cherokee People
The Cherokee are one of the indigenous peoples of the Southeastern Woodlands. They developed their own writing system, the Cherokee syllabary, created by Sequoyah. Despite the tragedy of the Trail of Tears, the Cherokee Nation thrives today as a sovereign nation.
